Forum Title: Replacing wood posts with metal
We have a short section of fence, about 12', that has had two 4x4's placed (not in concrete) beside where the original 4x4's (in concrete) were. One is the end post next to the house, the other is the middle post before getting to the corner. Both of the original concrete footers are there with rotted broken off posts in them. Our problem is the new posts are leaning due to this little narrow section of the yard having wind funneled into it. The original concrete seems solid so I was wondering if I took an old auger bit and removed the stumps if I could then place metal posts into those forms and fill the gap with concrete? We are eventually going to replace the fence and use steel posts anyway.
